Dr. Remington: It’s called hyperhidrosis and it’s a common problem for men and women alike, but in some people like you it can be very debilitating. If you’re sweating excessively then the best thing to do is try over-the-counter antiperspirants which we recommend at our clinic because they don’t contain any of the chemicals that cause problems such as irritation or bacterial growth. But if they still make your skin feel too dry then an excellent option is to apply a topical emollient such as Aquaphor [phonetic] cream [phonetic]. You can use this morning and night on your hands, feet, elbows or wherever else you have excessive perspiration occurring. And just remember that with these products high temperatures also provoke sweat so be sure to wear cool clothing when possible especially during hot weather. Good luck!
