What Causes Sweating?

Sweating is a way the body gets rid of heat. It does this by taking water from your skin and passing it through sweat glands in your arms, legs, chest or back to cool off.

When you exercise or are hot, more sweat is produced. You can also make more sweat if you’re stressed or anxious (for example about exams). Sometimes people get too much sweating due to anxiety disorders such as obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) because they worry too much about things around them that aren’t dangerous at all. This type of sweating isn’t normal for everyone though so it’s best not to worry too much about these types of problems except by talking with a GP or other healthcare professional if needed.
