Sweating on one side of the body is a very common problem, and it causes people a great deal of distress. Sweating can be caused by an underlying health condition or due to psychological reasons such as anxiety, stress or depression. In most cases there are no obvious physical cause for sweating only on one side of the body.
In some cases sweating may be linked with certain types of cancers such as cutaneous lymphoma (cancer in the skin), leukemia and myeloma (blood cancer). In these scenarios doctors will have to perform tests that look at blood cells called mononucleosis – they test for different forms of white blood cells which show up when someone has been infected with a certain type of viral infection known as Epstein-Barr virus – this virus has been associated with tumors in other parts of the body.
