What Can I Do About Excessive Underarm Sweating?

hi, i have had excessive sweating on my underarm for about 3-4 years now. It is very uncomfortable and embarrassing at times as it does not come off with deodorant or antiperspirants. Does anyone know if there are any treatments out there that might work? I am terribly worried by this issue as its ruining my confidence. I would be so grateful to hear of anything you can think of! Thanks

It sounds like you may have hyperhidrosis, or excessive perspiration . Hyperhidrosis (excessive perspiration) affects up to 30% of people in the United States; most commonly found among women who sweat excessively during hot summer months, but also occasionally among men (especially those with an underlying medical condition). There are several types of medications that may help manage the problem: Antihistamines : These typically reduce sweating by acting directly on your nervous system; however, they can make some side effects worse (such as drowsiness). They’re generally safe when used short term (for example until one has completed a course of antibiotics), although long term use could lead to dependency issues.
