I have just been diagnosed with hyperhidrosis. My doctor said that the only thing she could do for me is to reduce my dose of antiperspirant, but I’ve tried all these different products and none of them work. What can I do?
Dr Q: Hyperhidrosis is a condition where there are excessive sweating chemicals in your sweat glands causing itchy skin or sweaty hands. There are several possible treatments available including medicines which bind with the excess chemicals in your body (such as cyproterone acetate), surgery to remove some nerves around your sweat glands, or laser treatment using pulsed light to eliminate damaged areas of tissue that cause sweating. You should discuss any medical options you may be considered for with your GP.
