The most common cause of excessive foot sweating is hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. You sweat more in hot weather because your body needs to cool down. Hyperhidrosis is caused by an overactivity of the sympathetic nervous system, which activates the sweat glands when you are stressed out or worried about something. When this happens, the nerves send messages to the sweat glands telling them to work extra hard so they can release more sweat that evaporates into the air. This causes your feet and armpits to perspire profusely for many hours after you have finished working out at the gym.
