How Much Does Botox For Sweating Cost?

I have a lot of sweating and would like to use botox. Is it safe? I am 20 years old, 5’4″ tall and weigh about 140 pounds. Thank you for your advice. – Patricia

Dr. Young:Botox is used frequently to stop excessive sweating over the face or hands, but not all patients will respond to this drug as well as others do because there are several factors that must be properly assessed prior to treatment with Botox. The first factor that determines how effective Botox will be in helping reduce excessive sweating is whether you suffer from hereditary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweat). If so, then there’s a good chance you’ll experience relief from the effects of Botox when treated with this medication at an appropriate dose by a qualified physician who can determine which patient population(s) may also benefit from using the medicine. However if you don’t suffer from hereditary hyperhidrosis then chances are high that your condition won’t improve substantially after being treated with Botox alone unless other variables such as stress reduction programs or medications including antidepressants or anticonvulsants are also properly addressed along with proper lifestyle changes such as dieting, exercise and avoiding tobacco products for instance during social situations where impromptu drinking occurs due to poor judgment on one’s part.– Dr. Joe Vinci
