Most people sweat during sleep. It is a normal biological function and part of the natural aging process. The hypothalamus in the brain triggers your body to produce sweat as a way to cool down during sleep through evaporation from the skin surface. This sweating is not harmful and does not wake you up as long as it doesn’t cause uncomfortable wetness or rash, or cause problems with bed sheets, mattress, etc., As we age we do tend to start waking up more often due to increased night sweats but this does not necessarily mean there’s anything wrong and if you feel that it has become an issue for you then please contact your doctor who can help assess whether there may be any underlying medical issues causing this excessive sweating.
